Strategic Implementation Advising

How we approach the work

Our initial understanding will have gaps. We explain the basis for a proposed change so the people involved can question it. As the work proceeds, we review what happens in practice and revise the work where needed.

Changes to scope require agreement. The decision to continue considers the effects of the work, the remaining uncertainty, and the capacity required to support it.

01

Understand the setting

We examine actual instances of the work, including the information people use, decisions they make, and difficulties they encounter. The people responsible for the work help us check our interpretation.

We identify who can approve a change and who will be responsible for its operation and upkeep.

02

Agree the work

Before proceeding, we agree the purpose, scope, approval authority, maintenance responsibilities, and criteria for further work.

We scope the work according to operational risk and available capacity, using reversible steps where feasible.

03

Implement and check

We carry out the agreed work and compare what happens with the intended result. We record unexpected effects and discuss whether the change needs revision, further testing, or a pause.

We assess technical performance and the effects on users and related workflows.

04

Carry forward what is useful

We make the reasoning available: what we observed, how we interpreted it, why a change was proposed, and what would cause us to revise it. The materials should help the people involved review the work and handle later variations. Reusable software and findings are retained where ownership and confidentiality permit.

Further work depends on evidence of usefulness, demand, support requirements, and available capacity. Those considerations can justify continuing, revising, or stopping.
